5 Places to Get a Bite in Dallas

April 13th, 2021

1. Hillstone Restaurant and Bar

If you're looking for somewhere with great food and an even better atmosphere, then you'll want to stop at Hillstone. Between the to-die-for spinach dip to the Hawaiian ribeye steak, there is nothing on the menu that you won't want to try. My personal favorite is the house-made veggie burger. Even if you are a diehard carnivore, the veggie burger's texture is very similar to meat, and the taste is fantastic. The toppings give the softer burger a nice crunch and will satisfy any cravings you may have. Outside of the food, the waitstaff is fantastic. Still, you will want to book a reservation ahead of time because Hillstone is incredibly busy from lunch till dinner. However, no matter how long you wait, the food will always be more than worth it.

2. Asian Mint

Ever since traveling to Thailand, I have been on a hunt for good quality authentic Thai food, and Asian Mint checks all those boxes. I fell in love with their coconut-based Thai curry with a rich, perfect texture and delicious. The coconut is not overpowering, and the spices give the curry the right amount of kick. If you are a fan of curry, Asian Mint is a Dallas must. But outside of curry, every dish is killer. My dad's favorite is the orange chicken because the batter is light and crunchy. It doesn't get soggy after being dipped in the sauce. But in the end, it doesn't matter what you try because you will like it.

3. Cane Rosso

This is probably the best Neapolitan pizzerias in Dallas. The crust is just the right thickness with perfectly crispy edges. The Margarita pizza is what they are best known for, but any pizza will wow you. The sausage and pepperoni are a little spicy and add a nice crunch to break up the cheese's texture. But even if pizza isn't your thing, the entrées and sides are just as delicious. For the starters, the Brussel sprouts are so good that you wouldn't know you were eating them. And for people who aren't big on vegetables, the fried dough balls are always great to get dinner rolling. If you're not stuffed after all that amazing food, the desserts are worth perusing. The zeppole is a favorite of my family because they are like mini beignets that are covered in powdered sugar and come with a chocolate sauce and a caramel sauce. Whatever you get at Cane Rosso, you will not be disappointed.

4. Unrefined Bakery

This is the best gluten-free bakery in Dallas. And before you knock it, I'd really recommend you give it a try because the baked goods are so delicious that you wouldn't even know they were gluten-free. They're best known for the cupcakes, which come in a myriad of flavors that can vary based on the season. The carrot cake is my favorite because it has a really wonderful cinnamon spice flavor and a great texture. On top of cupcakes, they have cakes, cookies, pies, and more! The pies are also phenomenal. The pecan pie is probably one of the best ones in the entire city, gluten-free or not. The filling isn't overwhelming nutty, or sweet but instead has a good balance of everything. If you are looking for a good gluten-free loaf of break, Unrefined sells frozen items that can be reheated whenever you want something. Gluten-free has never been so easy!

5. Reverie Bakery

Reverie is the best vegan bakery in Dallas, hands down. Whether or not you're vegan, the people that line up out the door stand to show how popular this place is. They have everything from chick'n biscuits to cobbler bars and so much in between. I cannot think of one thing I tried that I didn't like, but my personal favorites are the chocolate chip sandwich cookies and the rice krispie treats. The cookies are soft with slightly crispy edges, and the frosting balances out the sweetness and breaks up the texture. It is my go-to for my cookie and sweet treat needs.

Always busy,

Sam
